Campregulations

1. Admittance to the Scout Centre

  1. Only Scouting organizations and their members are permitted to camp or stay on our sites and in the Hopman Verniel Lodge. For this purpose, one should state the group and membership number of the camp leader at the registration and enclose a copy of the membership card.
  2. All persons in any company should be members of Scouting. At least one of the parents of a family should be a Scouting member; the other parent and the children that belong to the household can join camping.
  3. At arrival the camp leader / camper should have a valid membership card or a Letter of Introduction of the involved national Scouting Organization.

2. Camp management

  1. The site management rests with the board of the Foundation Scout Centre Zeeland.
  2. The camp manager acts as representative of this board.
  3. The camp manager has the final decision regarding anything not included in the camp regulations.

3. Arrival and departure

  1. About one week before arrival one should inform the camp manager on the time of arrival.
  2. Campers should check in with the camp manager on arrival and submit a list of participants, giving at least: the names of all participants and a phone number to contact home.
  3. The camp fee is to be paid in cash or by debit bank card at the latest on the day before departure, or on another day in consultation with the camp manager.
  4. Campers check out with the camp manager at departure to deliver the campsite and/or the lodge.
  5. The campsite and/or the lodge should be left clean and complete on departure.
  6. Any damage and loss will be charged.

4. Hopman Verniel Lodge

  1. The gas and electricity consumption is metered and charged. Water is included in the price within reasonable limits of use.
  2. It is not allowed to place extra equipment, like for cooling, freezing and heating, in or at the Hopman Verniel Lodge.
  3. It is not allowed to attach electric cords and water hoses unto the Hopman Verniel Lodge for use outside.
  4. It is not allowed to shove the beds away and to use the inside furniture outside the house. The mattresses should be left lying on the beds.
  5. It is not allowed to smoke in the Hopman Verniel Lodge.
  6. Pets are not permitted in the Hopman Verniel Lodge.
  7. It is not allowed to drive nails, staples, pushpins etc. in the walls and the ceilings.
  8. The escape routes and doors have to be accessed freely. Beds and luggage are not to be placed in the escape routes.
  9. The use of the First Aid box, the fire-hoses and the fire extinguished should be reported because of the sealing.
  10. The group should take care by itself for the cleaning of the house. When this has been neglected, the costs for cleaning will be charged. These costs are calculated per hour of part of this.
  11. At departure, the cleaning and clearing should have been carried according to the check list.
  12. Chopping wood is permitted outside only. The wood-burning stove is to be left empty at departure.

5. Site set-up

  1. Campers should follow the directions of the camp manager where to put up tents and pioneering objects.
  2. Along the waterside and from there to the sites a strip should be kept clear of at least 3,5-meter-wide and with a free height of at least 4,2 meters.
  3. Tents can be placed in small groups with a maximum area of 10 by 10 meter. A free space of at least 3-meter-wide should be kept between these groups and/or between single tents.
  4. The tents are placed at your risk.
  5. Respect the properties of others.
  6. The board is not responsible for any damage to or loss of personal and/or group belongings.

6. Site protection

  1. It is forbidden to dig, to cut live wood, and / or to damage the vegetation.
  2. The gravel shore revetment should be left intact to prevent erosion.
  3. It is prohibited to use vehicles on the grounds, except for the site trolleys.
  4. Tents can only remain for 14 nights on the same spot, then they should be moved.
  5. The repair costs can be charged when the ground or vegetation has been damaged.

7. Fire keeping

  1. Ground fires are prohibited on the campsites except in the campfire circle.
  2. A fire in the campfire circle is only allowed with the permission of the camp manager.
  3. The fire in the campfire circle should not be larger than the fire plate (maximum 1 by 1 m).
  4. The campfire circle should be left behind clear of waste, wood and ashes.
  5. Altar fires, fires in fire bins (on a pedestal) and barbecues are permitted, only on an open place that is for at least 2 meter around free of building, tents, trees and shrubs, at which care should be taken that the grass is not burned or scorched and is not soiled with wood remains and ashes.
  6. The altars, bins and barbecues should be placed or constructed in such a way that they cannot fall or be pushed over easily.
  7. Altar fires, fire bins and barbecues should have no larger dimension than 70 cm (diagonal or diameter). Own fire bins should hence not be larger than those of the Scout Centre.
  8. Only clean wood, briquets or charcoal are allowed to be burned, and they should be lighted in a safe way, like with wood slivers, paper, firelighters, kindling liquid, and/or kindling gel.
  9. One or more buckets with water (at least 10 liter) should be present for direct use as extinguishing agent near each fire.
  10. Each fire is supervised by a leader or an adult.
  11. The fire should not be left alone before it has been extinguished.
  12. The ashes of altar fires, of fires in bins and barbecues and of the campfire should be deposed off in the allotted ashtray.
  13. A ban to keep a fire can be imposed when these rules are disregarded, and the costs for repair of the damage can be charged.

8. Safety

  1. One should follow the instruction in case of fires and accidents.
  2. Each group should have First Aid material with them, according to the size of the group.
  3. Gas and electrical equipment should comply with the regulations. Gas containers filled with LPG are not allowed.
  4. It is not allowed to attach electric cords and water hoses unto toilet buildings and the Hopman Verniel Lodge for use on the sites.
  5. Approved (i.e. with print NEN-EN 1763-1) hoses that are in good shape and not older than 5 years should be used on gas appliances for propane and butane.
  6. Parking is not allowed on the road to and on the Scout Centre (up to the barrier), except in the parking spaces. The paths and roads on the Scout Centre and outside should always be left clear of obstacles (like parked cars, equipment, rafts, etc.). The rubble paved area behind the barrier is only opened for loading and unloading.

9. Accommodations

  1. Caravans and campers are not admitted.
  2. Only for health reasons the board can grant an exemption from this rule, which should be requested beforehand, accompanied by a doctor’s certificate.

10. Sanitary facilities

  1. The water taps are to be used only for fetching water; it is not allowed to wash or rinse at the taps.
  2. The washing facilities in the toilet buildings are only meant for personal care.
  3. Washing of vegetables, rinsing of pans, etc., and washing the dishes is prohibited in the washbasins and in the showers. This should be done at the own campsite.
  4. Plugging of the drains should be prevented when using the toilets. Sanitary towels and diapers are to be disposed of in the litter can.

11. Order and quiet

  1. Between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. the peace and quiet is not to be disturbed.
  2. The use of audio and video equipment is prohibited on the terrains.
  3. The use of generators is not allowed.
  4. Night games should be held outside the Scout Centre only, on places where this is permitted.
  5. Respect the sites of other groups; let no programs and games be carried out on or near the sites of other groups.
  6. It is not allowed to play in the wood on the site. There are recreation areas next to the Scout Centre where (forest) programs can be carried out.
  7. One should behave like a Scout or Guide both inside and outside the Scout Centre. Keep in mind that you represent Scouting.

12. Pets

  1. Dogs are allowed only and as far as they do not cause any disturbances. They have to be kept on a leash.
  2. Dogs should be walked outside the Scout Centre. Any dirt is to be cleared away by the owner.
  3. Non-compliance of above rules can lead to removal of the pets’ owner.

13. Waste

  1. Waste should be deposited in litter bags in the waste container.
  2. Only household and kitchen waste can be disposed of in the waste container.
  3. There is a bottle bank for glass waste.
  4. Bulky refuse and chemical waste cannot be disposed of in the waste container. One must bring this kind of waste to the municipal waste collection point oneself, or take it home at departure.
  5. Tin cans, milk cartons, cardboard boxes, etc. should be flattened before disposal.

14. Pioneering wood

  1. The pioneering wood is not to be worked, like by cutting, sawing, drilling, nailing, screwing.
  2. The allotted amount of pioneering wood should be piled up neatly on the storage place after use.
  3. Missing and worked wood is to be compensated.

15. Use of equipment

  1. All available and/or borrowed equipment and materials should be returned after use, like the rafts and surfboards to the storage place. All use is at own risk.

16. Reservation, deposit, change in numbers, cancellation, 20%-rule

  1. A down payment is due for a reservation to make it definite.
  2. The rules for reservation, down payment, change in dates and number of participants, and cancellation are given in the reservation conditions that are part of the reservation confirmation.
